Head of the Hooch

Public Safety

Walking Around the Venue

Over 2,100 boats, some exceeding 60 feet in length, are maneuvering to and from the riverfront throughout the event. Boats can move quickly as they swing around corners. Please always be extremely conscious of your surroundings. Do not look at your phone while walking to avoid an unpleasant encounter with a rowing shell.

Volunteers are stationed at critical points where rowing shells and spectators may encounter one another. Please follow their instructions, they are there for your safety and the safety of rowers and equipment.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome to the regatta but must be always kept on leashes while on the venue and are not permitted on the launch and recovery docks. This is per Chattanooga's leash law and is required for dock safety and operations.

SafeSport Compliance

As a USRowing sanctioned regatta, the Head of the Hooch is committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment for all competitors and supports SafeSport Policies. Should you have any concerns, please contact our onsite SafeSport Compliance Officer (details will be announced closer to the event).

Police & Fire

The Chattanooga Police and Fire Departments are on site for the duration of the regatta and maintain a Command Center to respond to any emergencies. Should you require assistance, contact any officer or volunteer on site.

Emergency Medical Services

EMTs are on site to handle any medical emergency. A First Aid Tent is located at the intersection of Riverfront Parkway and Power Alley, next to the Registration Tent. In the event of an emergency, contact any uniformed officer or volunteer for assistance.

Report Suspicious Activity

If you observe anything suspicious, contact a police officer or volunteer so the situation can be investigated by the proper authorities. Please remain aware of your surroundings at all times.

If you see something, say something.
