Clubs & Supporting Organizations
The Head of the Hooch would not be possible without the dedication of our host clubs and supporting organizations. Each year, more than 6,000 volunteer hours are contributed — from dock management and course installation to race timing, safety, and referee support.
Host Clubs
Atlanta Rowing Club - Roswell, GA As the founding club of the Head of the Hooch, Atlanta Rowing Club has been a cornerstone of the regatta since its inception. The club's more than 250 members are required to volunteer each year, filling critical roles across dock operations, scheduling, volunteer coordination, and race timing.
Lookout Rowing Club - Chattanooga, TN When the regatta moved to Chattanooga, Lookout Rowing Club became a co-host and has been essential to its success ever since. The club's more than 90 members volunteer annually, helping coordinate venue setup, course installation, and on-water safety.
Supporting Organizations
Girls Preparatory School - Chattanooga, TN GPS provides access to their dock each year for para and adaptive rowers, significantly reducing the distance to the start line for those athletes. They also loan launches to support regatta operations.
Chattanooga Juniors Rowing - Chattanooga, TN Sharing a boathouse with Lookout Rowing Club, Chattanooga Juniors Rowing supports the Hooch annually through venue setup and teardown and by lending launches for on-water referee support.
St. Andrew Rowing Club - Roswell, GA Located just a mile upriver from the Atlanta Rowing Club boathouse, St. Andrew Rowing Club provides volunteers and launches to support the regatta - even though their boathouse is more than 100 miles from the Chattanooga venue.
Atlanta Juniors Rowing Association - Atlanta, GA Just a five-minute walk from Atlanta Rowing Club, AJRA lends launches to the regatta each year. With more than 35 referees on the water at any given time during racing, contributions like these are essential to safe and smooth competition.
Allatoona Rowing Association - Woodstock, GA A newer club for youth and masters rowers based on Lake Allatoona, Allatoona Rowing Association provides both volunteers and launches to support the regatta each year.
Row Georgia - Peachtree City, GA Row Georgia (formerly Peachtree City Rowing Club) has been part of the Hooch family since 2015. Their athletes compete and their parent volunteers work alongside other clubs on the docks and in launches, supporting the referee corps throughout race weekend.
Auburn University Rowing Club - Auburn, AL Competing at the Head of the Hooch since their founding in 1992, Auburn University Rowing Club brings a roster of 40 student-athletes who volunteer in a variety of roles across the regatta weekend.
